The best dressed team, for all of 5 minutes, was once again the ladies - Cindy Mitchell and Fiona Beck with new teammate Neil McKinney, who has been called the fishing wh***, as the last few years he has been with a different team each time.
We all love you Neil and it’s great to see you back repesenting the Bahamas. Their name this year is “Bait and Switch”. Could this be their year to win? Especially as Andrew Marshall is the boat captain.
Eric Hirshberg is definitely out to try and win this year with his two new teammates Peter Brandow and Martin (Marty) Lautman. They will be fishing on Playmate with Kevin Winter. They are team “Philly For Rum”. Welcome Peter and Marty, hope you enjoy your time on our island home... and the rum!
Eric’s teammate from last year Andy Pereira has put his own team together this year "The Three Yahoos" with Edward Pereira and Andrew Borland, both new tournament as well. Welcome to you both! They keep changing which boat they are going to fish on, so I guess it’s wait and see.
Brian Lines and Dean Rea have had a hard time finding a teammate after a couple of possibilities had to drop out, but I guess at dinner and after a few drinks, they finally managed to twist Thad Crouch’s arm and get him to fish with them.
At least Thad’s wife was around or it would have been a shock when he got home and announced he was going fishing for 3 days. They are calling themselves “Team MP” this year. None of their others names have worked very well, so hopefully this name will improve their standings.
Comic relief is always provide by this next team "Reel Lax". Even trying to get a team picture proved to be too much. We do have to mention Danny Fox is fishing his 20th tournament, so it will probably be one long party with Lester Petracca and Hamish Burns providing the entertainment.
After a long hiatus we are very excited to welcome back "Blue Waters Anglers Club". Both clubs have had a long rivalry fishing against each other in local tournaments. The team consists of Kirk Dill, Leon Stines and Roddy Nesbitt. Welcome to you all.
The final team are the hosts, "Bermuda Anglers Club", with well established teammates Mark Henneberger, David Skinner and Kip Froud. With Mark no longer club president and David retired can they win the tournament? They are fishing on Reel Addiction so there maybe some hope!
Well it looks like the weather is going to cooperate, but then there will probably be the excuse that the tide was all wrong or the water was green, as to why they didn’t catch. There is no pleasing a fisherman! We will just have to wait for weigh-in tomorrow from 4pm at Barr’s Park to see what stories they have to tell.
Thanks to all our sponsors, who help to make this tournament a success and all the club members that volunteer all week.
It is with great sadness that the club recently lost long time member Cyril “Hooks” Cooper (left front). He and Barbara housed anglers and hosted many ILTT functions at Rosemont as well as Hooksie fishing in it over the years. He will be greatly missed.
