Final Day

It was a Bermudaful day for the last day of fishing, although I think a bit more breeze would have been better for fishing.

It was definitely going to be a nail biter at the weigh-in with the top teams so close.

Thanks to all the teams for sending in pictures, some of which have been used in the Tattler. All of them have been posted to the Bermuda Anglers Club Facebook page under angler shots. Click like for your favorite before 5pm tomorrow and there will be prize for the winner at the presentation dinner tomorrow evening.

It seems that the sharks were the main species showing up this year, either being hooked or taking what fish did take the bait. Of those tuna that make it to the boat many of them hooked themselves anywhere but in the mouth, making the angler's work extra hard. BAC even managed to land a shearwater tangled up in one angler's line yesterday, which they released to go after their bait again.

Team Reel Lax made it home again in record time again, to weigh a couple of fish and disappear across to the other side of the dock never to be seen again... although they could be heard.

Team MP was second, and for the first time came by boat. Was this a sign of fish to weigh? Yes and no! They had a fish... it was a big one caught by Thad. The yellowfin tipped the scales at 52.5lb which turned out to be the largest fish of the day. They released 3 other fish.

Well Done! The team was second for the day.

Third to arrive a few minutes later was The Three Yahoos. They managed 3 fish today but only weighed in 2 with Andy catching a 40.9lb yellowfin and Andrew a 35lb one.

The team was 3rd overall for the day which is excellent considering this a new team. Did you catch their theme for the Day 3? THREE

The rest of the teams kept us waiting over an hour before showing up. It was Team BAC who was next to arrive... in 3 separate boats. Mate Matthew arrived in his boat, then David and Kip in his and finally Mark on Reel Addiction. The word was they had a few fish to weigh, 7 in fact.

Kip and Thad a bit of male bonding time, my fish is bigger than yours!

Kip's Almaco was only 28.4lb, while waiting. They then went over to congratulate Mark as one of his Almaco Jacks weighed 43.6lb and another 37.6lb.

They were High Point Team for the day.

Now the wait was on to see how Philly for Rum or Bait and Switch would do.

It wasn’t long before it was realized Philly for Rum wouldn’t catch BAC even with Eric’s 29.5lb Amberjack and 4 releases.

You gave it a great try guys and we hope you will be back again.

Finally, Team Bait and Switch weren’t the last to arrive. They came home in Cindy’s boat, so it was presumed that they didn’t have much to weigh...and they didn’t! Just a couple of stinky barracuda. Neil wasn’t looking forward to going back to the Bahamas and telling his friend he came all the way to Bermuda to catch a couple of 'cuda.

They were last in the Day 3 standings, but at least you can say you were top team on Day 2!

So last in was Team BWAC, who had to bring their fish over 2 other boats to get it to the dock.

Leon Stines caught all three fish, unfortunately 2 other fish just missed the mark and they had one release. They were 4th overall for the day.

As another new team representing a great club, they did great over all. Hope you enjoyed yourselves.

And so it’s official, according to stats man Steven Antonition...

... and announced by Mike Batista, Club President...

... Team BAC are the winners of the 49th Annual ILTT!

Mark is also the High Point Angler overall is excited to finally be getting the watch kindly donated by Crisson’s, which he has missed out on a couple of times. According to his wife, he needs a new one.

Team Bait and Switch are second, and Cindy is already asking if she can be the 4th angler to fish the Offshore Championship next year with BAC, as she is a member.

And Philly for Rum came in 3rd.

So that wraps up another ILTT, except for the prize presentation dinner tomorrow night at Ascots.

Next year is the year to be here as it’s our 50th anniversary! So start planning now, we are.

One final note thanks to everybody who helped set up and man/woman the weigh station. To David & Dianne Skinner for hosting the welcome dinner and to all our sponsors who have donated item for the bags, food for the BBQ, the tent and liquid refreshment every day.

See You All Next Year
